Finding Your Flange
Discover why your flange might be the missing piece, and how to find the right one for your body.
You're doing everything "right."
You're pumping on schedule. You're staying hydrated. You're eating enough. You're trying to stay calm (even though you're beyond stressed). And somehow, your supply is still dropping.
You pump for 45 minutes and walk away feeling like you didn't fully drain your breasts. Your nipples hurt. You wonder if maybe your body just isn't built for pumping.
Here's what I want you to know: It's probably not your body. It's probably your flange.
I remember thinking I was broken. Milk blebs, clogged ducts daily, supply tanking, completely heartbroken. I did everything my lactation consultant and the other specialists told me to do. It wasn't until much later, when I started learning everything I could about pumping and low milk supply, that I realized my flange was wrong the entire time. That one piece changed everything.
Since then, I've worked with hundreds of moms in the exact same situation. And almost every single time, when we find the right flange, everything shifts.
Does this sound like you?
You're pumping but feeling like it’s incomplete…like you're not fully “emptying”
Your pumping sessions are long and your output feels low
Your nipples are uncomfortable or sore
You've bought multiple flanges trying to find one that works
Your supply keeps dropping despite doing everything you're told
You're wondering if something is wrong with your body
The thing is: flange sizing gets talked about, but it doesn't get taught.
Most moms either guess based on generic sizing charts (with outdated information), or they use whatever comes with their pump and hope it works. If it doesn't, they assume they're the problem.
But here's what I know: flange sizing isn't one-size-fits-all. It's not just about the size. It's about the shape, style, and material that matches your specific anatomy.
When it's wrong, your pump can't empty you efficiently. Your body gets the signal that milk isn't needed. Your supply drops. Pumping becomes painful and exhausting.
When it's right? Everything changes.
Finding Your Flange
is a 30-minute course that walks you through exactly how to find the right flange for your body.
You'll learn:
How to measure yourself accurately: the step-by-step process
What to do with those numbers: how your measurement translates to actual flange size
The different shapes, styles, and materials that exist: so you understand your options beyond what comes standard with your pump
What to try first: how to create a real game plan based on your anatomy
It's practical, applied, and designed so you walk away with clarity and a clear next step.
You'll watch me break down the anatomy, show you real examples from clients, and walk through the exact measurement process. Then you'll have the tools to measure yourself and know exactly what to order.
Most importantly: You'll finally understand why pumping has felt so hard, and you'll have a concrete way to work toward fixing it.
I'm Quinn, an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and the founder of Moms' Milk Mentor. I specialize in milk supply and pumping support for postpartum moms.
I came to this work because I lived it. My first baby didn't transfer milk well, and when I started pumping, I was in a cycle of blebs, clogs, and dropping supply. I had no idea why. I ended up weaning at 2 months heartbroken.
Before my second baby arrived, I decided to learn everything I could about pumping and milk supply. That's what drove me to become an IBCLC. And it's what led me to realize: flange sizing is foundational.
Now I specialize in helping moms break down the pumping equation piece by piece, tailored to their bodies and their lives. Finding Your Flange is designed to help you find that clarity, starting with the foundation.

Will this fix my supply?
Flange sizing addresses a significant piece of the pumping equation. For some moms, getting the right flange is the main thing they needed. For others, it's part of a bigger picture.
What if I've already tried multiple flanges?
This course teaches you how to measure and why certain shapes/styles/materials matter. It's not just a list of products to buy. You'll understand what flanges might be best suited for your particular anatomy.
Do I need to measure both sides?
Yes, you might be different sizes on each side, and that's completely normal. The course covers this.
What if the flange I order still doesn't work?
The course gives you the knowledge to troubleshoot. But if you've found your size, shape, and material and something still feels off, that's when there might be other factors at play, and that's exactly what deeper support is for (more on that below).
What if I want additional support?
If you work through Finding Your Flange and realize there's more to optimize: your settings, your schedule, your technique, physiological components, etc. I offer 1:1 support through The Milk Supply Mentorship. It's a 3-month program where we investigate all of it and build a personalized plan. You'll have details about that option after you complete the course, or you can read more about it here.
